Why my past failures gets me excited

May 29th, 2007 by Jon

I don’t know how to say it, but as I count my failed ventures in the past, I get excited.
As one of the greatest inventor has said it, after failing numerous times to invent something really useful,

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. ” - Thomas Edison

So it’s like a “process of elimination”. The more you fail, the more you’ve eliminated the things that will not work and soon it will lead you to the things that will finally work.

I failed in the following:

1. Failed in my web design and hosting business.
2. Failed in network marketing business.
3. Failed in my small restaurant business.
4. Failed in retail store business.

As I reckon these failures, I can feel and see the success I’ve been praying for is coming. Learning from the past is really important though. You don’t want to keep on failing without learning anything. But make every stumbling block as a stepping-stone.

Downloading 2007 NBA Play-off Game from NBA.com.

A confession of an addict in 2007 NBA Playoff.

I need help. I am addicted to the NBA playoff game between Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs. It’s like the “NBA Finals”.

I am cheering for Phoenix Suns because I love Steve Nash and their team’s style of game. I feel unease and bit nervous whenever I watch their game. Could it be a symptom of addiction? :)

I missed the game 4 where Suns won to even the series to 2-2. Since I have no idea if they will show a replay of that game, I bought a $2.99 movie download of that game 4. This is my first time to buy at www.nba.com and would like to share some things you may want to know before buying.

1) They only accept buyers from US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
2) You can only watch it through Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.
3) You will be asked to install 2 plug-ins to play it. The “Entriq MediaSphere” and “NBA Media Manager”. So if you don’t want to install this kind of stuff in your PC, you opt to watch a replay in the TV instead.
4) The file size I downloaded is about 1.2 Gig. So it is not advisable to buy if you have a dial-up connection.
5) You can’t watch the movie not until it is completely downloaded.
6) Lastly, you can watch it in full screen.

The quality of video and audio are very good. I really think this is still a good buy for $3.

Photography as Hobby

May 10th, 2007 by Jon

I bought Nikon D50 2 months ago to start this new hobby of photography. As newbie,Nikon D40 you desire to immediately get the most out of the camera. So i read bunch of photography “how-to” articles online and bought a book. The more I read, the more I realize that this hobby is expensive more than as I expected.

Though not required, most of the references I read suggest to get extra tools to have a “Tack Sharp” shots. Tack sharp is the term pro photographers use to describe the ultimate level of sharpness. Movement is the killer. So I need to save money to get these extras:

a) Tripod - shooting from tripod separates the amateur from pros. Using tripod minimizes any movement.

b) Cable Release or Wireless Remote - when you press the shutter button on the camera, it makes the camera move just to keep your photos from being tack sharp.

I’ll post some photos as result of this little investment.
